London based photographer and fashion photographer, Ellen Rogers, has left me in amazement. I discovered her a while back before through her flickr account, however, didn't look further. I've just recently re-discovered her official online portfolio (here) and I must say crazy I am for her work. She specializes in the art of analogue photography, and as mentioned in her about me, "creates timeless dream worlds where temptresses seduce and lure you into unknown, dark lands." Her fashion editorials, intriguing as they are, differ largely from conventional ones witnessed today.

I think that ankle Doc Martens are incredibly underrated, and having had a sneak peak at their refreshing S/S '11 collection I'm jizzing with excitement. They're sturdy and stylish! I must get a pair in pastel for myself.

Lately I've been contemplating on what my theme for my next artwork for school should be, and how I should present it. As I contemplated, I began to think quite a bit about how complex photography can be. Most often it is known as an "easy art" as it requires only "composing and clicking a button". For me, I guess I see it as the science of art. There are so many elements to photography and functions on a camera that need to be understood and mastered. Sometimes I get caught up in the mechanics of it that I forget to enjoy. Although don't get me wrong, most of my motivation derives from inspiration and pure joy. Other times it becomes difficult to produce a photograph without it being so commercial and bland, with no depth. But then again, it is one of those circumstancial things. Of course this is what makes it so exciting, and just like anything else in life, the things that aren't as challenging aren't as meaningful.

These are just three of the photos I produced for my Year 11 Art Photography using darkroom techniques, and whilst I can say that I do somewhat like these photos, they aren't my complete best.

For this one, I experimented with layering by placing projector sheets of my photographs on top of one another. My theme was "Transition of Time".

I've had these for a couple of weeks already, and have been meaning to post a picture of them. Thanks to my lovely bunch of friends I am now in possesion of these spankin' new sunglasses from Karen Walker's latest eyewear collection entitled Sun Gods. Having not seriously owned a pair of sunnies in my previous lifetime, you could imagine how excited I got when I recieved them for my birthday. I kissed them, and I cradelled them just like any mother would do to their baby.
What I really do love, aside from the obvious (I.e. circular lenses with an intensely appealing structural frame) is the fact that when wearing these, I transform into another persona or person or character or whatever the hell it is, and in my head there is a faint voice that echoes throughout, shouting the words: "II EMM BAD ESSS".YEAH. Hush now, you egotistical piece of Sun Goddess shit.

On account of my lent promise, I haven't been in contact with the internet at all.
Temptation has given in, and for just this one day I have let myself go. But never fear,
I shall redeem myself soon enough.
I'm beginning to not give a shit about anything anymore. Something indistinguishable
has hit me, which i'm finding difficult to figure out. If I care, I care too much and
therefore trigger an insane amount of anger for trying to understand. So I stop.
Stop caring, that is, which in the end does no good either. I'm finding it rather strange
that it's impossible for me to be somewhere in the middle. Just as strange as the fact
that I can be either really loud, or really quiet. Never in between. I'm full of ambivalence
and i'm lacking hope that maybe that could change.

Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now

Isn't it funny how the holidays can be so tiring despite the amount of sleeping and lazing around? Melbourne weather is really starting to warm up (Yes - nice, sunny,walk-on-the-beach-type-weather), I guess you could say that week two of my holidays has so far been the most unhealthiest.

Paige (horse) slept over my crib yesternight. Our mini sleepover consisted of: Attempting to own Paige at singstar; which I failed miserably at because she is the next Kylie Minouge, introducing her to my latest game hype - Little Big Planet, making scrumptious banana splits, watching an outback movie about cuckoos, watching Saw 3, and going on Teen Chat because Paige wanted to, and she is loser. Neigh.

The first Big Day Out announcement was made yesterday, and no Blink. I am really starting to lose all hope!I'm not so excited to go to BDO or Soundwave. My current thought is to not go to either of them.

I also pray for my family and relatives in the Philippines, as well as everyone else who was affected by the flood.

Its not quite the holidays just yet, but I've only got one day of school tomorrow which will basically be a massive bludge. Although I'll still be having to get through a few assignments, at least I'll be able to enjoy the summer (or spring) heat.

Its already been a week, but anyhow, last Friday was the Year 10 social with St. Als and Simonds. It wasn't that great really, but I don't think anyone expected anything spectacular to happen.

Yesterday, I spent all my birthday money on these patent shoes from Wittner. Aren't they just lovely?

It was also my father's birthday, so we had light lunch at a small cafe near Degraves called 'The Journal', and afterwards bought some desert at a French Patisserie called 'Laurent'.

I'm more than glad Blink-182 are finally back together after four long years! This was taken from www.himynameismark.com about their suprise appearance:

"...the return of blink-182 to the stage!!! t-mobile threw a big party at the paramount lot here in los angeles to launch their new sidekick, and they asked us to play. the whole thing was a secret. travis and dj-am were already scheduled to perform, and as a surprise ending, blink-182 came out at the very end and played a few songs. during the night, weezer performed and played the hits, along with a few covers. TRVS/DJ-AM dominated (as they always do), and then we played. to be honest, it was one of the best nights of my life. thanks to everyone who was there. thanks to t-mobile. and most of all, thanks to travis and tom. you are my brothers, and it feels amazing to share the stage with you once again."

They performed "The Rock Show" and "All the small things" on Jay Leno on Monday and Tuesday. Toms vocals were not that great (as always), but I'm not going to complain seeing as they're back together at last!

My Easter this year was not at all spent doing Easter eggs hunts or filling my stomach with loads of chocolate eggs. In fact, the only egg that I had come in contact with today was that used to bake some horribly decorated cookies. I guess in the end they turned out pretty delicious.

My room is finally having a revamp. At first I was sort of really fond of the traditional/modern type theme. And so I picked out this nice traditional wooden, dirt colour type-bed, BUT yet again I've changed my mind and so I've canceled it. My final decision may just be a modern/contemporary theme.

I hate not doing the things that I'm supposed to be doing. Things like homework, changing my bedsheets and vacuuming the floor will probably not be done until another 2 weeks later. But my urge to watch Shrek 3, eat curry and play sing star were totally worth it.

The weather was not so good today, but overall it was a fun day. Here's a little summary of how it went:

08:00 am - Met with Paige at School
08:40 am - Arrived at the Run for the Kids after singing to The Rolling Stones with Paige's dad, forcing down some awful sour grapes, and seeing a 60, or possibly 70 year old woman jogging... bra-less.
08:45 am - Started running along side 15000 people or so.
09:40 am - After running 5.7 km, our legs starting to slowly deteriorate as we turned to gatorade to quench our thirst.
10:30 am - Watched some of the runners finish off the 14 km course.
11:00 am - Had some pizza at La Porchetta
11:40 - Got dropped off at Paige's mother''s house.
- Chilled, and scrummaged through her dull and lifeless closet.
- Paige had a shower
- Attempted to pick out her outfit (because shes extremely indecisive and stubborn)
02:00 - Finally left to go to the city.
02:15 - Bourke St, coffee at Starbucks, and photo whoring in David Jones with extravagant festival hats and hot as sunglasses.
03:00 - Walked around in circles to kill some time
04:30 - Photo booth
04:45 - Went back to Ascot Vale
05:00 - Took more photos
05:20 - Arrived at Paige's house
06:00 - Went home.
